Kate?ina Kn?žíková was born in Bohumín in 1982, and graduated in 2007 from the Prague Conservatory of Music in the class of Professor Ji?ina P?ívratská. In 2005, she won the first place in the Antonín Dvo?ák International Singing Contest in Karlovy Vary as well as the Award of the National Theatre in Prague and the Moravian-Silesian Theatre in Ostrava. In 2006 she participated in the summer International Festival in the German town of Rheinsberg. For that particular event she rehearsed the part of Ermione from Josef Myslive?ek´s opera Antigona in co-production with Prague’s National Theatre. For this part, an international jury and the Doppelfeld Foundation eventually offered the singer an opportunity to perform in Berlin.She launched her professional singing career in the F.X. Šalda Theatre in Liberec as a guest appearing in the role of Melia in W. A. Mozart´s opera Apollon and Hyacinth and in the part of Margaret in Charles Gounod´s opera Faust. She also gives guest appearances in the Moravian-Silesian Theatre in Ostrava (appearing in the part of Nannetta in Giuseppe Verdi´s opera Falstaff, and of Esmeralda in Bed?ich Smetana´s opera The Bartered Bride), in the National Theatre in Brno and the National Theatre in Prague where she rehearsed the role of Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Barbarina (The Marriage of Figaro), Esmeralda (The Bartered Bride) and Bar?e (The Kiss by Bed?ich Smetana). In 2007, she accepted the permanent engagement in the National Theatre in Prague. She sings the part of Papagena (W.A. Mozart´s Magic Flute) and the part of Zuzana (Le nozze di Figaro).
