Black Mountain es una banda de rock con tres álbumes a cuestas que surgió en Vancouver (Canadá), como parte de un colectivo de artistas (saltinbanquis, teatreros, pintores, etc) llamado Black Mountain Army. Sus miembros son Amber Webber, Matt Camirand, Jeremy Schmidt , Joshua Wells y Stephen McBean.

El sonido de la banda resulta una muy elaborada sopa de sabores de los setenta: en su segundo álbum, titulado In the Future, hay cortes que en ocasiones suenan a la banda de Iommi y Osbourne (Black Sabbath), luego a Rush, Pink Floyd, David Bowie, Led Zeppelin, The Velvet Underground, y así sucesivamente. El rock progresivo 70s estaba también muy presente en la estética del álbum.

En su tercer disco, Wilderness Heart, avanzan hacia derroteros menos duros pero manteniendo un notable nivel.

After the band formed in 1995, Psykup defined its musical orientation very early. Claiming various influences such as STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, PRIMUS, and ALICE IN CHAINS, Psykup offers an original approach of metal music, overpassing predefined rules imposed by the metal genre while preserving an electric coherence. Often considered excentric and frenzied since they are philosophically open to mixings, Psykup’s metal is first a dark, incarnated and above all introspective music.
Today, the band approaches music in a more cinematographic way, with songs that dissect more in storyboards than in a chorus/ verse pattern. So many short films that John Carpenter, Terry Gilliam or Tex Avery could have directed…To be up to the band’s excessiveness, their new cd could only be a double album. That is now done with « We love you all » !
